About ARA-290
ARA-290 has the sequence pGlu-Glu-Gln-Leu-Glu-Arg-Ala-Leu-Asn-Ser-Ser, where pGlu is pyroglutamic acid, a ring formed at the start of the chain. It is also known in the literature as cibinetide.
The ring at its first amino acid leaves the chain without a free amino group at that end, a common way to make a short peptide more resistant to being broken down from its start. Laboratories use the sequence above to confirm identity before their own experiments.
