Research overview

Glutathione is a tripeptide supplied as a lyophilized powder for in vitro laboratory research.

About Glutathione

Glutathione is made of three amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine, with the glutamic acid joined through its side chain instead of its usual backbone link.

Its cysteine carries a free thiol group, which makes glutathione a standard reagent in laboratory redox chemistry and in assays that measure thiol groups. The same group is why it should be kept sealed, dry and cold: air slowly joins two molecules into oxidized glutathione.

Glutathione lab reports

Independent lab reports for Glutathione are linked on this page as they come in. None is posted for the current lot yet; contact us and we will send the documentation for the lot you receive.

Purity is measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC): the glutathione peak as a share of everything the detector picks up at the test wavelength. Identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry.

Checking a Glutathione report

  1. The compound named on the report is Glutathione, and its lot number matches the lot you received.
  2. Purity is 98% or higher, with no large second peak close to the main glutathione peak.
  3. The mass result matches glutathione.
  4. The amount found in the vial is close to or above its labeled size (500mg or 1500mg).

Our guide How to read a peptide lab report walks through every part of a report in more detail.

Sizes and storage of the powder

Glutathione comes as a lyophilized (freeze dried) powder in sealed glass vials in two sizes: 500mg and 1500mg. Each vial's lot number ties it to the lab report for that lot.

Store sealed vials at minus 20 °C or colder, dry and away from light, and record the lot number with your lab notes.

For qualified in vitro laboratory research only. Not for human or animal use.
