About L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is a four carbon chain carrying a trimethylammonium group, a hydroxyl group and a carboxylic acid.
It is the L form of carnitine. Its mirror image, D-carnitine, has the same formula and mass, so a mass result alone can't tell them apart: the L form is confirmed by optical rotation or by a chiral method, and a report should say which form it tested.
