About Melanotan II
Melanotan II is a seven amino acid peptide, six of which form a ring: Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2.
The ring is formed by a bond between the side chains of aspartic acid and lysine, and one of its amino acids is in the D form. Both features make the peptide a common model in studies of how ring closure and D amino acids change a peptide's stability and shape.
